Oh You Beautiful Doll

I collected quite a number of vintage doll magazines from the Lifeline Bookfest this year and many had really lovely paper dolls in them. I wanted on a recurring basis to share some of them with you starting with Coco Melanie and Wendy. These two paper dolls were from National Doll World Magazine, Wendy in Ivory from May/June 1989 (Page 31 ad 34), and Coco Melanie in Blue from January 1990 (page 34 and 35).
Both dolls and their costumes were created Elaine Shants based on real Madame Alexander Dolls (Coco Melanie 1966 and a Wendy composition bride). The art work is wornderful and the dolls look graceful and elegant and demure.

I copied the images and then pasted them onto card stock, cut out, and coated them in lacquer. My daughter loves playing with them. The artist should be very proud of her fantasic work.

I love the knickers and other underwear. These are gorgeous ... I found some old mags at the bookfest too and one had a paper doll in it. But I thought it was too pretty to pull out and see destroyed by my children ... I think I may copy your idea of a copy and coat! Thanks heaps!
